Doolan Family History written by Mary Mahon.
This captivating book, explores the deep familial ties and remarkable journeys of two Doolan brothers, Michael and James and their sister Catherine, who emigrated from Ireland to Pine Mountain and Peak Crossing regions in southern Queensland in the 1860’s.
This remarkable and meticulously researched work reveals their struggles and successes.
Michael, who was 24 years old when he arrived in South Queensland with his wife Susan, their infant son Patrick and Michaels 9 year old sister Catherine. With hard work they cleared the land and established a successful farm at Pine Mountain, where Michael became a community leader. And James, a 16 year old when he arrived in Australia where, in the first couple of years he worked in a variety of jobs across the country, from Tasmania to the un-explored wilds of far North Queensland where he struck gold.
These three Doolans became successful, and they and their many descendants married into the Mahon, Smith, Sherlock, Culhane, McInally, McAvoy, Fitzgerald, and Dredge families who also settled in the Pine Mountain and Peak Crossing regions.
